Breaking young horses for a career of racing is usually started in the fall of a horses yearling year but some owners prefer to wait until the following spring on late foals. Some wait until horses are more mature. There is not a right or wrong time, only a right and wrong way.
Young horses at Keen Farms Training Center are started with training methods that build confidence as well as teach basic skills they will need for a lifetime. Each young horse is treated as in individual with different needs and learning capacities. Each young horse is evaluated and a training schedule is prepared that will best suit the needs of the individual.
Dallas and Donna Keen run a professional operation and together start all of the horses in their care personally.
We guarantee you will be pleased with your colt or filly when sent to Keen Farms for a minimum of 60-90 days before going to the racetrack for training. We guarantee your horse to be well broke, trained to go with a pony horse, and walking through the starting gates within the first 90 days of training.
Keen Farms is currently accepting young horses for training. The cost of breaking young horses at the farm is $45 a day. For more information about sending your young horses to Keen Farms for training contact Dallas Keen, 817-528-6655.
